How Ethical is the Iranian Charter of Professional Ethics for Translators? A Critical Analysis | ||

| Ethical issues are gaining more importance in the realm of Translation Studies. Ethics charters or codes of professional conduct for translators produced by professional associations seek to establish a set of ethical principles and to ensure that all members are adopting those principles in practicing their profession. The present study aims to examine the fundamental assumptions underlying the approved Iranian Charter of Professional Ethics for Translators in Iran and to explore limitations of the Charter. Eighteen English codes of ethics for translators or translators and interpreters from countries located in various parts of the world were downloaded and analyzed to find the overall values and underlying principles commonly shared by the codes. Then, the principles underlying the Iranian Charter of Professional Ethics for translators were thoroughly analyzed to reveal the main points of similarity and difference between this Charter and the analyzed codes from around the world. Finally, the limitations of the Charter were discussed. The analyzed data revealed that the approved Iranian Charter of Professional Ethics for Translators is not very practical and could not be successful in regulating ethical practice across the translation profession in the Iranian context. Hence, it requires further modification before application. | ||

| روز به روز بر اهمیت مباحث اخلاقی در حوزه مطالعات ترجمه افزوده می شود. منشورهای اخلاقی یا کدهای مربوط به رفتار حرفه ای برای مترجمان که انجمن های حرفه ای ایجاد می کنند به دنبال برقراری مجموعه ای از اصول اخلاقی می باشند و می کوشند اطمینان حاصل کنند که همه اعضاء در انجام امور مربوط به حرفه خود این اصول را اتخاذ می نمایند. مطالعه حاضر به بررسی فرضیات اصلی منشوراخلاق حرفه ای که برای مترجمان ایرانی مصوب شده است و محدودیت های این منشور می پردازد. هجده کد اخلاقی انگلیسی برای مترجمان یا مترجمان و مترجمان شفاهی در کشورهایی که در نقاط مختلف جهان واقع شده اند از اینترنت دانلود و تجزیه و تحلیل شدند تا ارزش های کلی و اصول اساسی مشترک در این کدها، شناسایی گردند. سپس، اصول اساسی منشور اخلاق حرفه ای مترجمان ایران کاملا مورد ارزیابی قرار گرفت تا مشابهت ها و تفاوت های اصلی بین منشور ایران و کدهای تحلیل شده از سراسر جهان نشان داده شود. درنهایت محدودیت های این منشور بحث و بررسی گردید. با تحلیل داده ها، مشخص شد که منشور اخلاق حرفه ای مصوب برای مترجمان ایران چندان کاربردی نیست و نمی تواند در تنظیم اخلاق در حرفه ترجمه در بافت ایران موفق باشد. از این رو، این منشور قبل از به اجرا درآمدن نیازمند اصلاحات بیشتر می باشد. | ||
